Welcome

Welcome Premier of Nova Scotia

Dear ICSB members:

It is a great honour that your membership has chosen Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, to host your June 2008 international conference "From Research to Results." Nova Scotians have a tremendous sense of pride in our business and entrepreneurial success, both of which you will be celebrating and exploring throughout the four days of your conference. Soon after you arrive, you will begin to discover why our business community is home to international companies like Xerox, Michelin, Pratt and Whitney and Research in Motion.

Nova Scotia's winning conditions encourage success through a competitive business climate, a highly-skilled workforce, and excellent global connections. We have world class institutions in our university and community college system, and advanced hospitals and research centres.

Our belief in the strength of small business is so strong that for more than a decade entrepreneurship has been infused into curriculum modules at all levels of public education.

On behalf of the Province of Nova Scotia, I offer my congratulations to the International Council for Small Business as you continue to build on your proud tradition of conferences promoting the growth and development of small business internationally. See you next June!

Sincerely,

Rodney J. MacDonald
Premier of Nova Scotia

Welcome CCSBE President

On behalf of the Canadian Council for Small Business and Entrepreneurship (CCSBE), the host affiliate, I am pleased to invite you to participate in the 2008 ICSB World Conference in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. It will mark the 53rd ICSB Conference where experts from around the world will share ideas, research findings, and new practices relating to entrepreneurship and small businesses. ISCB 2008 will present yet another opportunity to make and renew friendships with those interested in the same cause: the growth and development of entrepreneurship and small businesses throughout the world.

The CCSBE was the first affiliate of ICSB and we are thrilled to be hosting the 2008 conference with the organizational assistance of three Canadian universities: Acadia University (Acadia Centre for Social and Business Entrepreneurship -ACSBE), Dalhousie University (Faculty of Management), and Saint Mary's University (Saint Mary's University Business Development Centre - SMUBDC).

Halifax, the host City, is located on the Atlantic coast and is the first port-of-call inbound and the last port-of-call outbound for Canadian and European trade. You can visit the century-old seaports that capture the timeless romance of the sea coast and the world's mightiest tides that pound against the agate-covered coast in the Bay of Fundy.

Come and experience Old-World traditions and enjoy "East Coast" hospitality - visit Peggy's Cove, eat lobster, tour the many Titanic historic sites and enjoy our shopping. The program promises to be outstanding. See you in Halifax in June 2008.
