Social Program

Opening Reception

(Sunday, June 22nd)

On Sunday, June 22nd, delegates will experience four cultures of Nova Scotia music. Hear music selections from a Celtic group, an aboriginal Powwow group, an Acadian group, and an Afro group. Performers will entertain for periods of 15 or 20 minutes, and then break to provide delegates with opportunities to converse, catch up with friends, and meet new delegates. The perfect blend between entertainment and conversation!

Featured Artists include Deloris Boudreau, Dave McIssac and company performing Celtic and Acadian music.

Delores Boudreau brings incomparable energy and charisma to the stage. The combination of her distinctive voice and dynamic stage presence creates a performance that leaves you wanting more. Delores has been honoured with nominations for the Nova Scotia Music Awards in Folk Roots and Best Female Artist categories. She is also a past winner of the Vocal Performance Category at Le Gala de la Chanson de la Nouvelle-Ecosse. The music of this diminutive dynamo is best described as Maritime folk, bluegrass-inspired, lively and upbeat. The press has described Delores being 'uniquely enchanting'. This diminutive dynamo is an ambassador for all the best things Nova Scotia music and culture have to show.

Dave MacIsaac is widely sought after as a celtic guitarist, violinist, and session picker extraordinaire. It is not uncommon for Dave to be flying off to Ireland or Washington DC, accompanying the fiddle greats of Cape Breton Island, then to come home to Halifax and be off again this time to a studio or on a tour to add his irrepressible talents as a sideman and session player.
